New Member FAQ

New to the business or thinking about becoming a real estate agent? Then you most likely have a few questions. Below are answers to some of the most frequently asked questions we receive. How do I get a real estate license? 

The first step in getting a real estate license is to contact the California Bureau of Real Estate.

If I just passed the real estate test, can I join the Association?

 Yes, you can join our Association if you are currently under a Brokers license. Click HERE for more information.

How much are dues?

The dues you pay are based on your level of membership with our Association (Designated REALTOR®, Non-Designated REALTOR,® or Affiliate). Click HERE to view the Fees

When are the annual dues due?

Yearly membership renewals are due in January of each year.

Who pays REALTOR® Dues: 

All individuals licensed directly or indirectly with a DR are included in the computation. An offsetting credit is given to the DR based on the number of non-principal licensees who hold REALTOR®, REALTOR-ASSOCIATE®, or Institute Affiliate membership in their own right.

Introduction
At the 1972 Annual Convention, the National Association of REALTORS® Delegate Body approved what is now commonly referred to as the "NAR Variable Dues Formula" for Designated REALTORS®. The formula was crafted to ensure fairness, by basing member dues on the number of individuals licensed with REALTOR® principals (known as "Designated REALTORS®" or "DRs"). The premise is that every licensee in the firm benefits from the DR's membership in the Association of REALTORS®, and, therefore, the DR's dues should reflect all licensees in the firm – even those who are not REALTORS®.

What is a LFRO office?

A Limited Function Referral Office (LFRO) is a separate entity that sponsors real estate licensees or appraisers whose sole function is to refer prospective clients to a particular broker.

When is new member orientation?

New member orientation is offered once a month, the first thursday of each month. Please contact staff for exact date at 760.244.8841.

How do I get a Supra Active Key/eKey or iBox?

When you join our Association you have the opportunity to purchase an iBox. Please note that your Active Key lease with Supra provider is renewable on August of each year. In addition to the Active Key or eKey, you can also purchase electronic iBoxes in our REALTOR® Store. You can also have the eKey service in your Iphone, Blackberry or Android.
